CHARACTER
Name: Erina Joestar, nee Pendleton
Canon: Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood
Age: 20
Timeline: Shortly after her marriage to Jonathan.
Items with character at canon point: Traveling clothes, wedding ring, necklace, embroidered handkerchief.
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: There shouldn't be any need for them to interact! Narancia is slightly antisocial about certain things and has mom issues, where Erina here is like... epic badass mom in the future. She's probably a little too proper for him, and they're also from wholly different parts of the series, not to mention different power structures, and since he's involved in organized crime, she might not ever warm up to a loudmouth mafia brat anyway...
Personality:
Erina begins the story as a young woman, not weak, but not forward in her actions. In her first appearance, she doesn't really defend herself against bullies, showing herself to be influenced by her time. However, even then she is kind enough to recognize the assistance given to her by Jonathan, and return his kindness. Her sense of gratitude and the willingness to reciprocate such things carries throughout her life. Even though Jonathan is unpopular, she chooses to approach him (even rather secretly), only slightly caring about the thoughts of others. In this, she shows a budding boldness and independence that only grows as she gets older. Her strength shows earliest when she wholeheartedly rejects Dio's attempt to disgrace her. Although the action drives a wedge between her and Jonathan that lasts for years, she still expresses herself and defends her own integrity by showing that even mud is better than Dio's advances, no matter what his motive. Though it is a mere whisper compared to how she grows to be later in life, it is another small step.
Her affection and dedication are so great that they do eventually bring her back to her childhood love, as she takes it upon herself to nurse Jonathan back to health, even at her own expense. Despite years apart, she cares for him greatly, and would clearly sacrifice much for him. Her devotion also shows when she later insists that she die beside him, having always wanted to be with him and to stay with him. Jonathan stirs within her a sense of caring and love that eventually transcends everything he goes through, and solidifies a relationship that could easily have gone cold over the years.
Erina is gentle, crying easily when happy or sad, but in that very action she is unafraid to embrace feelings toward others. She clings to Jonathan in a way, holding hope and happiness in him more strongly than anything else, seeing few real difficulties in the world as long as he is with her. While with others she may seem somewhat meek, and certainly unassuming, with Jonathan she is passionate (within certain Victorian standards, of course) and enthusiastic. She is graceful, too, and proper, blossoming into a lovely young woman who shows selfless care toward others, while still maintaining an appropriately demure demeanor. She never flees danger, though, and takes things head-on, such as when they're approached by the mysterious Baron Zeppeli, or when the final showdown with Dio threatens her safety, and her very life.
As the story progresses (beyond where she will be apped), she becomes a teacher, raises her and Jonathan's child, and is everything a strong and disciplined matron of a family should be. She maintains ties with Speedwagon, and creates the best life she can for her son (losing him too early, as well) and her grandson (even though he's a twit). Nothing ever stops her; the early signs of this future independence and boldness are there; Jonathan's death is merely the catalyst that brings them to the forefront. Without dedication, loyalty, dignity, and grace, she might have wilted alone. Instead, she faces the future with everything she can muster and never looks back.
